On the night of January 2nd, 2010, the house mysteriously caught fire and was burned to the ground, leaving 6 families homeless, including 5 minors and a woman due to give birth.
It is evident that the house was set alight deliberately: the fire started on the ground floor, in an unoccupied room with no electrical wiring and no heat source.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene of the disaster refused to extinguish the flames, stating that they were given orders not to save the house.
The residents also revealed that they had previously received veiled threats from the local authorities hinting towards the possibility of arson. One of the residents stated that the head of the local police department told him in private, "You understand, there might be a fire. The house is there today, but tomorrow it might be torched. Do you need that? Leave peacefully."
Fortunately there were no fatalities. Even the cats and dogs made it out safely without any injuries. But the house was completely destroyed, leaving the families with virtually nothing and in desperate need of emergency shelter, blankets and food...
